Cohiba Riviera Box-Pressed Toro (6.5 x 52) Box of 20
I recently purchased a box of Cohiba Riviera Box-Pressed Toro cigars and enjoyed 10 delicious luxury class smokes that are truly worthy of the iconic Cohiba name! Along with consistently great taste, each cigar was flawlessly rolled and displayed evenly colored San Andres Mexican wrappers. The cigar is the first-ever box-pressed offering by Cohiba, It’s also the first time that Cohiba has used a San Andrés wrapper.
This was a medium bodied smoke that delivered smooth, complex flavors of white pepper, leather, earth, and coffee, backed by plenty of sweetness. This is a versatile cigar that has enough kick for a veteran smoker, yet its smooth enough for a newbie. Like all Cohiba cigars, Riviera certainly isn’t cheap, but in this case, you really get the quality and extraordinary taste that you pay for.
The Quintessential Box-Pressed Experience
The Cohiba Riviera Box-Pressed Toro represents the heart of this historic release. As the first regular-production box-pressed line in Cohiba’s storied history, the Toro vitola provides the perfect canvas to showcase the craftsmanship of the STG Estelí factory. The sharp, elegant pressing not only feels ergonomic in the hand but also creates a unique airflow that emphasizes the blend’s natural sweetness.
A Bold Departure in Flavor
Unlike the milder, traditional Cohiba lines, the Riviera is a “New World” powerhouse. The soul of this cigar is the Mexican San Andrés wrapper, a leaf prized for its earthy, chocolatey characteristics. When paired with the Honduran Connecticut binder and a select blend of Nicaraguan and Honduran fillers, the result is a balanced, medium-to-full-bodied smoke that offers both strength and refinement.
Tasting Notes
The 6.5 x 52 Toro format is renowned for its consistent burn and evolving flavor transitions. Throughout the hour-plus smoking time, enthusiasts will discover:
-
Primary Flavors: Rich cocoa, toasted almonds, and damp earth.
-
Mid-Point Shift: A transition into creamier territory with notes of malt and cafe au lait.
-
The Finale: A spicy, robust finish featuring black pepper and a hint of dark cherry sweetness.
Presented in a stunning Box of 20, these Toros are a statement piece for any collection and a testament to Cohiba’s modern evolution.
